True Life: The one where I watch too much TV

I’m a TV junkie.
Tis true.
The first step is admitting you have a problem, right?
Only I don’t really want to quit.

You know when you get to the end or you get all caught up on a show and it’s just heartbreaking? Like you rushed through it and now you wish you could go back (happens with books too).

Right now I’m in a rut. All my usual shows have ended and I haven’t found a new obsession. The last time this happened, I discovered the show Bones on Netflix. Seven seasons of wonder right there. And now three months later I’m all done. Since no new episodes of anything are on TV right now, I need a new show to watch straight through on Netflix or Hulu.

So here’s where I share my favorite shows with you and you go, huh, I like a lot of those. But I also like _________ and maybe Nadine would like that. And then you write it in a comment. I’d love you forever!

So let’s begin. Here are my favorites, old and new:

Drama:
Grey’s Anatomy
Bones
Lost

Comedy:
Friends (may be my all time favorite. box set owner right here!)

How I Met Your Mother

Sex and the City
Modern Family
New Girl
30 Rock
Arrested Development

Now tell me, what are your favorites?

YOU MIGHT LIKE:
  • I bet you’d really love 2 Broke girls (I know I discovered my love for both them and New Girl at the same time). I also really like Till Dead. That was a netflix blast for me on a whim since I had nothing else to watch 😉 Sound familiar?

  • Oh i forgot, I do love 2 Broke Girls. Thats a good one. I’ve never heard of Till Dead so I’ll have to check it out. Thank you!

  • I’m a big reality show girl but I love Parenthood, Friends, Gilmore Girls, 7th Heaven, and a million other ones too hahah.

    • I’ve heard good things about Parenthood. I loved the movie. I’m wondering if I’d appreciate it as much since I don’t have kids. And I’ve been told several times that I would LOVE GIlmore Girls but have never watched it. Maybe thats a good one to check out. Thanks!

  • Psssh, I freaking LOVVVVE Friends, and all the other shows you listed, except Bones. Ppl tell me I am missing out on that one! I’m also (sadly) addicted to just about all shows on Bravo. Oops

    • I never ever thought I would like Bones but it’s actually a lot less about murder than I thought. It has funny moments and the relationships between the characters are just the best. They spend a decent amount of every episode just on their personal lives. It’s definitely not CSI.

  • I love all of those shows!!! I just started watching Community on Hulu. It’s about a group of misfits going through community college. Some of the story lines get a little repetitive (i.e. Jeff (Joel McHale) is a self-centered jerk, something happens, he learns his lesson, they’re all friends again), but it’s super random, and I love the characters. Also, Psych. Shawn Spencer is super observant and pretends to be psychic so he can solve cases with the Santa Barbara Police Department. Think The Mentalist but hilarious. All the seasons are on Netflix. The fella and I watched all of them within a few weeks. They’re like crack, but not as bad for you and not illegal. Wow, super long comment…but I like tv, too.

    • OOh you might have hooked me on Psych. I need a show that my guy will watch with me. Usually I pick something and he is not too pleased. It almost sounds like Sherlock Holmes (being super observant). Thanks for sharing! I’ll check it out.

  • Fellow TV junkie right here! Fellow TV junkie going through the same withdrawl/desperate Netflix search, in fact. Here are some of my faves that you and/or fellow people in the comments haven’t mentioned yet:

Community (okay, I know someone else said it, but I REALLY love it)
    The Big Bang Theory
    Scrubs
    Will & Grace
Glee (thought I’d hate it, avoided it forever, it’s now a guilty pleasure)
    Supernatural
    Buffy the Vampire Slayer
    Dawson’s Creek
    Gilmore Girls
    Mad Men
The Guild (actually a web series, but it’s on Netflix now)

And, of course, most of the ones you’ve listed too. Oh! And if you’re looking for a good summer-only show, check out Franklin & Bash on TNT. It’s an hour-long dramedy about lawyers (played by Mark Paul Gosselar and Breckin Meyer, which is awesome).

  • Oh! I totally forgot my new favorite: Don’t Trust the B—- in Apt. 23. It was a mid-season start on ABC this year, so it only has a few episodes out (you can find them on Hulu, I think), but it’s renewed for next season.

  • On Netflix:
    United States of Tara
    Better Off Ted

I also loved Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, but I watched it on Amazon Prime.

  • I may need to watch Bones! I love getting hooked on TV shows and can watch them all on Netflix. I really got hooked on the show Weeds last summer. I can ALWAYS watch The Office. You definitely need to get into Gilmore Girls, it’s so great! I am a sucker for reality TV and my all-time favorite starts in the summer….Big Brother! I can watch just about any show on BRAVO too.
