The Plight and the Pleats

Evidently taking pictures inside is still hard on a DSLR camera.
For some reason I thought they’d turn out so much prettier.
I guess lighting is the plight of inside photography,
evidently regardless of the camera.
I hit the jackpot at Goodwill this weekend.
This pleated skirt became mine and so did the mustard yellow tee.
(still had the tags on it!)
Add a belt and some Payless wedges and a teal braided belt and
BAM! instant outfit.
Who says you have to pay more than $7 to be in style?

Top: Mossimo via Goodwill, $3.50
Skirt: No brand via Goodwill, $3.50
Belt: F21, $4.50
Shoes: Payless, $19.99

  • Okay, I’m extremely jealous. I LOVE your skirt and the price…amazing!

    Dainty and Decadent

    • Thank you! I seem to have a lot of luck at thrift stores and Goodwill. This skirt wasn’t even with the rest of the skirts. It was misplaced and I walked by it randomly. Lucky me!

  • yup! It’s all about the lighting, aperture, etc. I guess a fancy camera can only save us so much 🙁

    your shoes are so cute!

    • I’m taking a photography class starting in September so hopefully I’ll learn what those words mean! Thanks!

  • You look so cute! I love that you found such great things trifting! Inspiration for my own thrifting adventures…

    • Good luck thrifting! I think it’s way more fun than regular shopping because it’s so hit or miss.

  • I’m digging the outfit. I especially love the pop of teal with your belt. Have a great day!

    • Thanks! That belt was a great F21 purchase. I wear it constantly.

  • Super cute! And totally loving the price!

  • such a great skirt!!

    • I got super lucky to find that misplaced in goodwill. It’s one of those items that I never would have purchased for more than $10 cause I won’t wear it a ton. Lucky me! Thanks for stopping by!

  • Jealous! I want to hit up your Goodwill!
And I feel you on the lighting issues with indoor photography. I’ve completely given up on taking any outfit photos inside because they’re just never flattering. But one itty bitty tip to help is to change your white balance setting to whatever lighting you’re in…when I figured that out, it helped quite a bit with my indoor pics! 🙂

    • Thank you! I’ll check out my manual and see if I can make that happen. My photography class starts soon so hopefully it’s all up from here!
