I always read magazines while I work out. The fact that I can do this tells you that I’m not a high-intensity workout, class taking, die hard fitness fanatic. Walk uphill on the treadmill for 30 minutes and I’ll call it a day. Reading a magazine always insures that I’m not checking the clock every 2.5 seconds with a dear-god-when-will-this-be-over mentality (let’s be honest…still happens).
So today I’m power walking away and I came across the Splurge vs. Steal page. I normally LOVE this kind of thing so my eyes instantly went to some flashy floral pants (still wondering if I could even pull them off, btw). My eyes shot over to the “steal” version and I was shocked to find that the “steal” is $298. Since when is $298 a steal? Less than $10 is a steal in my book. Am I alone on this? I get that compared to the splurge of $1,458, that $298 might seem like a steal (they are super cute though, right? Well done J. Crew, well done) but really, I’m not buying it.
Well Marie Claire, I do love your articles so I’ll keep reading your magazine, even if there is some ridiculousness. Maybe it will just inspire me to find an actual steal instead.
