Movie Review: The Avengers

Last night my beau and I went to see The Avengers. After all of the hype, it didn’t disappoint. We drove a couple extra miles past our regular movie theater to see it in IMAX 3D. It was totally worth the extra few bucks.

The story line itself was catchy and the characters were at their best. I did feel as though the plot line drew most extensively from Thor, as opposed to the movies the other characters originated from (Iron Man, Captain America). I was not a fan of the giant fish like villains that took part in the attack on New York but that didn’t take away from the awesomeness.

I do wish that Natalie Portman had made an appearance as Thor’s love interest, Jane Foster. I’m glad they addressed the fact that she wasn’t there (she was “sent away for her own safety”) but I just don’t believe that Thor would have come back to Earth and not seen her.

Overall, I was thoroughly entertained for the entire movie. They very obviously set the movie up for a sequel. Also, as is the case with the previous Marvel Comics movies, wait until after the credits for some last minute laughs. I give this movie a solid A-. Let’s be honest, I’m easily entertained.
