If We Were Having Coffee, I’d Tell You…

Back East Blonde
This is a post I’ve seen other bloggers do (most recently, Samantha) and I always love reading them.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you…that N borrows my Tweezerman tweezers (those suckers are stupid expensive) and when I caught him using them to pick at an ingrown beard hair (ew), he said “I thought it’s all what’s mine is yours and stuff” to which I replied “what’s mine is mine and what’s yours is also mine”. I’m the nicest.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you…at some point during the conversation “oh my god, you have to see this picture I took of Archie sleeping last night”. And you’d probably  be like, “No, I’m good. I saw 15 of those last time we had coffee, and have you seen your Instagram?” But if you were a really good friend, you’d humor me.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you…that at the suggestion of several readers following this post, I picked up Attachments by Rainbow Rowell at Barnes and Noble. The real book version. I finished it and it was a perfect recommendation. Then I’d offer to loan you my copy. I’d also tell you that sometimes I feel like I’m doing real bookstores a favor when I buy a book in person, in an actual store. It’s like, you’re welcome for not ordering this on Amazon.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you…that now I need another book recommendation. Let’s make it another happy one.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you…I’ve been having a case of good weather guilt. Sure, it’s 68 and sunny outside, but what if I still want to stay inside and read and binge watch Netflix? That’s still allowed, right?

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you…that chopping a particularly juicy jalapeno and then later picking your nose is not advisable.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you…I had worn my hair down every day since I cut it, until last week. That’s when I discovered that my new short do could be the cutest low messy pony. Double points for taking two seconds to do.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you…that big changes are coming in my life. I’m not ready. Am I? Then I might laugh cry and make a joke at my own expense to try to make myself feel better. It wouldn’t work.

Hooray! Glad to hear you loved Attachments. I think I need to re-read it now.

  • This is great 🙂 I’ve been struggling to get through The Cider House Rules, but not because I don’t like it. I love it. I just don’t really have time to read. I have lots of potential reading time on my commute but I usually take a nap :/

  • Thank you for giving a name to the guilt I felt over the weekend when it was 75 degress and sunny, and I chose to nap for 3 hours in my bedroom. At least I had the window cracked, so I got some fresh air?

  • I am absolutely loving this weather – but that hasn’t stopped me from wanting to lay inside and watch three too many episodes of Pretty Little Liars. I’m glad I’m not the only one…

I hope the changes coming in your life are good ones, even if they do make you nervous.

  • I would obviously say “yes – more archie pics! now look at my pugs!” us crazy dog moms need to stick together. excited to hear about your changes 🙂

  • Ouch to the jalapeno! At least you didn’t rub your eye.

Can’t wait to hear about these changes! Hope they’re all good ones!

  • I do love that little pony, adorable.

I had the same problem this past weekend with the internal fight of “go enjoy the weather” “no thanks I just want to watch netflix” it’s terrible.

  • That’s funny about N using your tweezers, I don’t like sharing mine either. I would totally humor you and look at all of the Archie pictures as long as you put up with looking at all of my horse pictures ha ha! I haven’t been able to put my hair up since I got it cut, it’s too short! It’s been strange having to actually do something with my hair. I’m loving this weather!! But I still like binge watching shows 😀

  • Sounds perfect, now I want to get coffee with you!

  • Bahahah I definitely have pulled the pepper trick on myself. Eyes, Nose, you name it I just didn’t get it that day. #Ouch. As for your hair, it’s ADORABLE! I chopped all mine last fall and couldn’t be happier, short ponies are the best too aren’t they!?

  • YAY! I’m so glad you liked Attachments! For more happy, I’d say Fangirl by the same author. Or if you want another writer I’d say Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. I think I told you about it on Twitter. It’s YA Romance, but completely adorable and it makes me outrageously happy.

    And big life changes?

I’ve pretty much only read Chelsea Handler or Emily Giffin books so I’m no help there! But I’ve had to use Zachs razor on vacation before and they felt weird… Kind of like tweezers I guess?

  • You can show me all the Archie pics you want. I’m dying to read Chelsea Handler’s new book – a substantive book it might not be, but I’m willing to bet it’ll have me/you peeing our pants.

  • love the low ponytail! and the “what’s yours is also mine”…so true 🙂

  • I can’t remember the last time I bought a book in a bookstore. That’s sad.

  • “It’s like, you’re welcome for not ordering this on Amazon.” Haha I always feel this way too!

  • Oh my goodness, good weather guilt – what a perfect name for it! I am currently binge watching Breaking Bad!

  • i can’t wait to hear what changes you have coming!

  • Oh how I would love to have coffee with you, except I don’t drink coffee……………..lol

  • Crystal G

Loved this! 100% with you on the Amazon thing. LOL. I thought I was the only one who laugh cried (with the exception of my 3 year old daughter who has apparently inherited it from me…poor kid!)

  • Luv this 🙂 Excited to hear about the life changes 😀

  • Hahaha, “what’s mine is mine and what’s yours is also mine” is SOOO true!

  • I love this post! Haha you’re hilarious… Now I want to do a post like this.

  • I read and loved Park & Eleanor by Rainbow Rowell. I need to add Attachments to my list.

  • This was a great “coffee talk” post! I feel the same way about my bf’s stuff in our apartment and then I feel really nice when I’m like, here, you can borrow this…after I make him drive me around and I borrow his sweatshirts to sleep in. I’m going to have to check out Attachments. My book club just finished reading The Language of Flowers which was really good but not exactly a happy read.

This is a fun post. It is always nice to learn more about a blog’s author. I also read real books, but I usually get them from the library because Barnes and Nobles is the only book store around here and they are way too pricey. I’m always in the need of a book and a recommendation. I’ll have to look into the one above. Have a wonderful day!
