My Everyday Jewelry

I’ve never been much of a jewelry person. I wear the exact same jewelry every day. This is mostly out of laziness, and due to the fact that jewelry kind of bothers me. I’ve tried to do the statement necklace and rock the arm candy but inevitably I wind up taking it off because I find it so irritating. I don’t know how it doesn’t bother people to type or write with tons of bracelets on. I can’t do it.

So here is my everyday jewelry:

Gold Anchor Infinity Necklace

Anchor Infinity Necklace

I bought this at TJ Maxx for $16 about two years ago and it has become my everyday staple. Partly because I always feel like I should be wearing an anchor (cause I’ll always be a sorority girl), and partly because every single time I wear it, someone compliments me. It’s definitely a more unique piece, but it’s still simple and I love it.

Here is a similar item from Etsy.

Engagement ring

Duh. It’s my favorite thing ever. N knew what I wanted (a simple solitaire) and he sent photos from my Pinterest page to the jeweler. The man is a genius. Well done N, well done.

Diamond Studs

Much to my surprise, when N and I got engaged his Mom presented me with earrings to match my ring. When I opened them, I believed they were really nice cubic zirconias or some other stone and was obviously very openly thankful to her for her generous gift (Because I do not live in a world where I receive 3 diamonds in one day. That’s just not something I could even fathom.). I had no idea they were diamonds.

Later when I went to put them on, I found that the backs were screw on. Huh? I thought. Weird. And then I said to N, “I think these earrings might be real diamonds.” To which he replied, “Um yeah they are. What did you think they were?” WHAT? And now you’ll have to rip these earrings out of my cold dead ears, because I haven’t taken them off since. In other news, I feel like this was a pretty good sign that my mother-in-law likes me.

I hope that didn’t seem braggy. It was a really lovely gift and I’m still pretty stunned.

These are obviously a recent addition to my usual jewelry. Prior to this, I rotated between 3 pairs of gold studs from Forever 21 until the gold rubbed off and then I’d cycle in a new pair, also from Forever 21.

Long Gold Necklace

For the days when I really need  a long necklace to make a look work, I swap out my infinity necklace for this one. It was $3.80 from Forever 21 and naturally, the gold has rubbed off along the neck area. When will I learn to just go ahead and buy the nicer versions of things?

So there you have it. If you saw me in person, you can bet I’d be wearing some combination of the above.

Are you also someone who wears the same jewelry every day? If you aren’t, do you have any suggestions about how to get used to changing things up each day?

  • I usually wear the same thing… I have a few pieces that I recycle here and there. I feel like I need to start adding some more to have fun with it.

  • I’m a wear-the-same-jewelry type of person too! When you find something you like, you just gotta stick with it. Lately I haven’t been wearing anything because my toddler will fuss with it, but when I do I wear some cubic zirconium studs, a watch, and an occasional small necklace. I’ve found it almost impossible to wear anything on my wrists (I’ll usually sit the watch next to my keyboard during the day) because it’s always bumping stuff.

  • I wear the same infinity/knot silver ring on my right hand every day, otherwise it’s this diamond-shaped vintage ring my Grandmother had. Somedays I forget to put one of them on and I feel naked.

I need to invest in a really nice pair of earrings, mine always turn my skin green because they’re so cheap.

  • Pam

Wow that is so nice of your mom in law! Very pretty! I wear my engagement ring every day(of course) but switch up my earrings and necklace (if wearing one) depending in the day/outfit. I don’t often wear bracelets for the typing issue you said above 🙂

  • I really need to get everyday studs, maybe one day real diamond earrings! I do however have a ring that I’ve worn every day since high school.

  • I think you hit the MIL jackpot! If you saw the amount of (cheap, and discolored) jewlery I own you wouldn’t believe I stick to the basics. My husband gave me a silver moon necklace on our wedding day (we always said love you to the moon and back) and then a monogram necklace for my birthday so I always have one of the two on along with fake pearl earrings and my wedding rings. I don’t know how people type with watches and bracelets on either, I always remove them immediately.

  • I wear 0 jewelry every day! I don’t have my ears pierced so that’s easy but the only time I put a necklace or bracelet on is when I’m going out at night/dinner etc. and you can bet your bottom dollar 90% of my jewelry comes from Forever 21! Haha

  • i’m just going to add to the compliments you receive on that anchor necklace and tell you it’s fantastic! what a great mother-in-law to be handing out beautiful diamond earrings and so glad they have a screw on back because panic attacks surrounding losing those i’m sure is REAL.

  • I’ve got several small pendant necklaces that I rotate in and out as I like (my favorite is a little flying pig), as well as my stalwart pearls when I want to be fancy for a client meeting or something. I’ve also got about 15 pairs of earrings that I switch around to complement my outfit. No statement necklaces, no bracelets. I like accessorizing with jewelry, I think it’s fun!

  • that is SO cool that the backs are screw on because i can’t tell you how many singles of earrings i have because the pair is in the bottom of the ocean or lost in a field of grass…

i always wear pearl earrings. all day, every day. but i’m good about alternating my necklaces and bracelets. what i’ve realized helps is to pick out my outfit the night before and have in mind a color of accessory (like gold or silver or whatever) and then in the morning i look through and stick to that color. this makes the morning routine a little bit more fun and creative, but also ensures that i’m not wearing a uniform of jewelry.

also, i keep all my jewelry in an accessory hanger. YES. it’s this hanger with a long piece of fabric attached to it with clear pockets. this way i can pull out the hanger and see what’s there (and then i don’t have to untangle my long chains).

whoa. vomit of lots of deets for you.

  • I’m with you! Studs, my solitaire, and a necklace and I am ready to walk out the door! I like to spice it up with a statement necklace when it works, but otherwise it is a simple gold bar with my wedding date in roman numerals (a gift from one of my girls) 🙂

  • I’ve never been a jewelry girl myself either. I buy jewelry but never get around to wearing them. I love the detailing to your necklace! The only daily jewelry I wear is this simple necklace, ring and a golden bracelet my mum gave me for my 21st birthday. I don’t even wear earrings anymore unless it’s a fancy event.

  • I wear my college ring everyday but as for the rest of jewelry, I usually mix it up. Oh, and that is THE NICEST future MIL present I have ever heard of! Wow!

  • Moe

i’m just like you! i’ve been wearing the same necklace everyday for years and years now and i used to wear the same bracelet, until it started scratching everything around me (so sad i had to retire it!)

  • I’m still a big fan of a good statement necklace from time to time, but I do love simple, everyday jewelry. The only thing I for sure wear every day are my wedding rings. I usually grab a simple necklace and occasionally a watch. That’s it for everyday. What a beautiful gift from your future mother-in-law~
